In 2012, Mr. Madhu entrusted my firm to develop their property to have several posh villas and I have taken the layout approval for 11 such units. During the last flood time in 2018, water rose only to the plinth level of the villa under construction as the base is well elevated. That was the highest water level ever recorded for Kabini river after the 1924 floods – the highest level on record in Wayanad. That happened since the Government waited till the last minute to open the shutters of Banasura earth dam and had to open up everything together. This year also there is good rain but the control systems are very systematic now as the shutters are moderately opened when the reservoir is 3/4th filled and the river water level is constant downstream.
